Auburn baseball makes moves in latest national polls – AL.com

Auburn’s hot start to SEC play continues to pay dividends in the national polls.

Following the Tigers’ series win against Georgia over the weekend, Butch Thompson’s club was again rewarded on the national scene. Auburn moved up three spots to No. 17 in the D1Baseball.com top 25, while the program made its debut in Baseball America’s top 25, coming in at No. 18.

Auburn (20-6, 5-1 SEC) took two of three from Georgia on the road over the weekend, as the Tigers finished the week 3-1 — with all four games away from Plainsman Park following a 22-game homestand to open the season. Along with the series win against Georgia, Auburn defeated Georgia Tech last Tuesday in Atlanta.

The Tigers have won 10 of 11 overall since dropping a series opener to Presbyterian on March 10. Auburn has also won six straight weekend series to open the year, including a pair of sweeps against Holy Cross and Florida, which moved up to No. 8 in the Baseball America poll and No. 9 in the D1Baseball.com poll after taking two of three from LSU.

Auburn will return to the field on Tuesday, when it travels to Montgomery to take on rival Alabama in the Capital City Classic at Riverwalk Stadium. The Tigers then return to Plainsman Park this weekend for a three-game series against South Carolina, which is sixth in the Baseball America poll and seventh in the D1Baseball.com poll.
