It’s a busy day with an early start so let’s jump right into today’s top 10 batter vs pitcher matchups:

10. Kendrys Morales-DH-Kansas City Royals: The Royals and Rays played two games yesterday and Kansas City got a pair of wins 9-5 in Game One and 7-1 in Game 2. Today they’ll look to take the first three games of this four game series as they face Chris Archer who has had an impressive first half so far this season.  Morales has a great history against Archer, though, going 5-8 (.625) with a home run and a pair of doubles against Archer in their previous career meetings.

9. Seth Smith-OF-Seattle Mariners: The Mariners and Tigers tangle again this afternoon in the rubber game of their three game series. Expect Seth Smith to get the start in LF this afternoon based on his 6-17 (.353) career numbers against probable pitcher Anibal Sanchez including a double and a pair of home runs as well as three RBI.

8. Anthony Rizzo-1B-Chicago Cubs: The Cubs are trying to prove they’re in the NL playoff race to stay and went a long way to doing that with a sweep of yesterday’s double-header against the Cardinals. Today they’ll look to keep their roll going as they face Michael Wacha.  Rizzo has fared well against Wacha in the past going 5-14 (.357) with a home run and a pair of RBI.
