Scalise watches LSU baseball game – The Hill

Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) watched a Louisiana State University baseball game Saturday evening as he recovers from a gunshot wound.

“Steve is watching @LSUbaseball, rooting hard for a big Tigers win tonight! #CWS #LSU,” the House majority whip’s Twitter account said. LSU, which beat Florida State, 5-4, in the College World Series, is the congressman’s alma mater.

The most recent update from MedStar Washington Hospital said Scalise was upgraded to serious condition and underwent another surgery Saturday.

“He is more responsive, and is speaking with his loved ones. The Scalise family greatly appreciates the outpouring of thoughts and prayers,” MedStar said.

Scalise was shot last Wednesday at a baseball practice in Alexandria, Va. when an assailant opened fire on GOP lawmakers and staffers one day before the annual Congressional Baseball Game.
