Nearing the end of the regular season, the best teams in baseball have risen above the pack. But what about the best bats in baseball?

We took a look at the stats so far to see which teams have the best offenses in the nation. No, they might not be the top-ranked teams in the country, but as they say, the best offense is a good offense. Or something like that.

The seven statistics we examined were OPS, hits per game, walks per game, home runs per game, extra base hits per game, total bases per game, and runs per game,

We’ve included an interactive table below so that you can explore the breakdown for all 295 teams yourself, but first, a few takeaways:

A good argument could be made for Morehead State having the best offense in baseball as it ranks in the top 10 of every category except for walks per game. The Eagles are first in OPS (0.973), hits per game (12.62), runs per game (9.22), second in total bases per game (25.11), third in extra base hits per game (4.08), and sixth in home runs per game (1.57).

Those stats have led Morehead State to a 26-11 season, which includes one ranked win over then-No. 27 Mississippi State, 13-8. The Eagles have 13 different players who’ve homered this year and seven players with a slugging percentage greater than .500.

What’s more, Morehead State has put up double digits on their opponents 14 times, and scored 15 or more runs nine times. Sheesh.

Wake Forest is the top offensive team ranked in DIBaseball.com’s top 25. The Demon Deacons (28-10) sit at No. 18 in the latest poll, and — like Morehead State — are in the top 10 of every category but walks per game. Wake Forest is second in hits per game (1.77), third in OPS (0.939), extra base hits per game (4.08), and total bases per game (24.38), fourth in runs per game (8.46), and eighth in hits per game (11.33).

Just in case you thought a good offense was the key to success, though, the nation’s No. 1 team Oregon State has just one lonely offensive stat that ranks in the top 100 — the Beavers’ 10.06 hits per game sits at No. 58 in the nation.

Here are the rest of the stats as of April 19, 2017, including the national average for each of the seven statistics we looked at:
