Watch what NASCAR’s simulated test drives actually look like, thanks to Kasey Kahne – For The Win
Hendrick Motorsports has been one of the most vocal advocates for NASCAR teams embracing the new technology offered in simulated rides.
While not everyone has bought into this yet, many Cup Series drivers now enjoy getting some extra practice laps in their Chevrolets, Fords and Toyotas on a simulated version of whatever the upcoming track is.
Here’s a look at HMS driver Kasey Kahne practicing for Sunday’s Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.
Earlier this season, Jeff Gordon told FOX Sports:
“Once you get in the car and the video screen comes alive, basically the car’s running. You put it in gear, you release the clutch just like you would if you were sitting on pit road on an actual race track.”
Gordon also called the first time he tried the simulator “an enlightening experience,” and while not everyone is on board yet, the drivers that are might be getting a slight advantage.
