Exclusive: Sports Minister says MCC’s decision to introduce women’s honours list is "about time" – Telegraph.co.uk

“The fact that we are about to have an honours’ board there to recognise them – well, it’s about time,” said Crouch.

“I was at Lord’s on Sunday and it was an incredibly tense match. I think it is good news for cricket, never mind women’s cricket. Clearly these women will go on and inspire, I hope, girls to get involved and there may well have been many there on Sunday who do want to be the next Anya Shrubsole or Tammy Beaumont.

“It is great all the progress that has been made over the last few years and the investment into women’s sport we have seen, that we are seeing the success of that now.”

Crouch has also welcomed the news that 50 sports have agreed action plans with Sport England and UK Sport to become compliant with the government’s new Code for Sports Governance.
