Friday’s Hot Clicks: Penny Lane; The 30 Most Influential Hispanics in Sports – Sports Illustrated

In Friday’s Hot Clicks, we look at the 30 most influential Hispanics in sports, plus a look at the lovely Penny Lane.

The 30 Most Influential Hispanics in Sports

What do Tony Romo, Alex Rodriguez, Oscar de la Hoya and Jess Mendoza have in common? They’re all included in our feature looking at the 30 Most Influential Hispanics in sports. Also, they’re all Hispanic. But seriously, I spent a lot of time the past couple weeks working on this project so please give it a read.

Cubs advance in thriller

Imagine playing 167 baseball games, only to see your season end on a 9-8 loss. That’s how the Nationals feel right now after the Cubs squeezed past them to advance to the NLCS. The game included a controversial call, a wall-denting double and some rare umpire-on-catcher violence. The Cubs will face the Dodgers in the NLCS.

Ezekiel Elliot update

Ezekiel Elliott‘s six-game suspension was upheld and his lawyers have 10 days (when Dallas plays next) to figure out how to get him back on the field. Michael McCann breaks down Elliott’s legal options while Albert Breer looks at the Cowboys’ short-term future without their star running back.

Lovely Lady of the Day

Programming note: I’m off next week as I visit London and Amsterdam for the first time. If you have any suggestions of things to do, please email me. I’ll also be making a day trip to Liverpool to learn all about the Beatles. With that in mind, I present today’s LLOD (and 2018 SI Swimsuit candidate) Penny Lane. Yes, that’s her real name (click for full-size gallery).

The NBA’s best teammate

Can’t say enough good things about this oral history of Kendrick Perkins.

The Internet can’t figure out the color of this sneaker

It’s definitely pink and white, unless you think it’s green and gray. I’m so confused.

Not a good look for NBC

The Harvey Weinstein scandal continues to grow and I can’t believe NBC had the story in its back pocket so long.

Hot Clicks Giveaway

Last year at this time, I had a giveaway for California Pizza Kitchen gift cards, which received more entries than any other giveaway in 2016. Time for an encore. This time, I asked Ashley Ceraolo—Marketing & Beverage at California Pizza Kitchen—to tell me the best beer/alcohol to pair with their pizza. Give it a read. As for the giveaway, I have three e-cards for a free meal at CPK, and I’ll give to the 100th, 200th and 300th person to email me (andy_gray@simail.com) the name of the MLB team co-owned by Linda Alvarado. The answer is in our most influential hispanics piece. Please make the subject line “California Pizza Kitchen.” Good luck!
