Sugarloaf-style Crusader’s Great Helm – Wearable Costume Helmet

This is one type of the great helms developed in the 12th century, and often associated with knights of the Crusades. The great helms offered excellent protection to the head, but the drawback was that they provided poor ventilation and were very hot to wear. This reproduction is in steel with an antique finish and a brass cross indicating that the wearer was, in fact, a Crusader.

The helmet would be suitable for display, or for wearing as part of a costume. It fits most adults, though a padded liner or cap is recommended for a more comfortable fit.
