Popular Baymeadows sports bar and grille closed and now in foreclosure – Florida Times-Union

Sneakers Sports Grille near Baymeadows Road and Interstate 295 has been taken over in foreclosure and closed. The Jacksonville Beach location, which has a different owner, is still open.

CenterState Bank filed for foreclosure against the owners last year citing both an overdue loan and unpaid taxes. It received the judgement in January and last week received the property when there were no other bidders in the foreclosure auction.

Christian George, attorney with the Akerman firm who represents CenterState, said the bank closed the sports bar last week. It will put the building at 8133 Point Meadows Road up for sale as soon as it receives the title.

Both the 18,149-square-foot building and its contents are included.

“It may or may not be a restaurant,” George said. “We have no control over that.”

The owners, Nicholas and Susan Pratt, took out a $4.5 million loan from First Guaranty Bank and Trust to build the building in 2005. They also borrowed $2 million from the Small Business Administration, George said.

The sports bar opened in 2006.

The business, Sneakers Sports Grille Point Meadows Inc., filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2012, the same year that First Guaranty closed and its assets were transferred to CenterState.

George said the bank reduced the two loans to about $3.35 million. The reorganization was approved in 2013.

They still owed $3,286,234, according to foreclosure documents.

The Pratts filed for bankruptcy last August and could not be reached for comment.

The Sneakers Sports Grille in Jacksonville Beach, which opened in 2001, is owned by Nicholas Pratt’s brother Gregory. It went through its own bankruptcy reorganization in 2012, but is not involved in nor affected by the Point Meadows foreclosure.
