A day after a scary collision in Alabama’s baseball game at Auburn, Crimson Tide coach Mitch Gaspard updated the situation.

First baseman Chance Vincent was taken to a local hospital on a backboard after colliding with rightfielder Casey Hughston.

Gaspard released a statement Sunday morning to update Vincent’s condition as Alabama enters Game 3 of the Auburn series at 1 p.m. Sunday.

“Thankfully, Chance did not suffer any injuries related to the neck or head,” Gaspard said. “He did sustain a shoulder separation that was treated yesterday evening at the hospital. Chance will return to the team this afternoon, but will not be available to play. Joe Hoffer and I would like to personally thank the Auburn training staff as well as the Auburn support staff for their help. They were accommodating in our time of need, and we are very appreciative of all that they have done in the past 18 hours. Thank you also to all the friends, family and fans who have reached out with support, thoughts and prayers.”

Alabama took the first two games of the series, 4-2 in Friday’s opener and 7-6 on Saturday.
