Alaska Baseball League Brawl Starts After Managers Have Fistfight (Video)

You’ve probably never heard of the Alaska Baseball League. After this, you’ll probably never hear of it again. But for one day, the collegiate summer league is totally worth talking about.

It’s not necessarily for a good reason, but the ABL is in the news, or at the very least, is getting some Internet play, after a bench-clearing brawl Wednesday.

A baseball brawl isn’t too unusual, but it’s what set this one off that is so different. The benches cleared after the two teams’ managers got in a literal fistfight.

Anchorage Bucs manager Mike Grahovac and Peninsula Oilers skipper Kevin Griffin exchanged a couple of punches after the two got into it in extra innings Wednesday. According to KTUU in Alaska, Grahovac was ejected for arguing balls and strikes, and on his way off the field, he got into it with Griffin. It started with a bump, escalated into a couple of wild haymakers and ended with both benches clearing.

Where was the brawl? The managers threw some punches. The dugouts emptied. Pushed for 2 seconds and milled around.
