Arkansas baseball off to a hot start in 2017 – SECcountry.com
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Welcome to SEC Country’s daily Arkansas Razorbacks podcast with Jason Kersey, Trent Shadid and Eric Bolin. Today, the guys talk about the baseball team’s hot start to the season, the basketball team’s recent winning streak and a few football topics.
SEC Country launched the Borderline Erotic Podcast on Aug. 29, 2016. It is named after the colorful way Arkansas football coach Bret Bielema described how he felt after beating Texas in the 2014 Texas Bowl.
Here is a quick rundown on some of the topics we discussed on this, the 116th episode of the Borderline Erotic Podcast:
Arkansas baseball starts 6-0
Following its weekend sweep of Bryant, the Arkansas baseball team is 6-0 to start the 2017 season. Can we glean much about this team from this start, or are there still some unanswered questions? Eric, our baseball guy, says we will know far more about this team when they travel to Texas for the Frisco Classic next weekend.
The Razorbacks are hoping to bounce back from a terribly disappointing 2016 season that saw this proud baseball program not even qualify for the SEC Tournament.
Is basketball a lock for NCAA Tournament?
After some serious struggles just a couple weeks ago, the Arkansas men’s basketball team all of a sudden looks like a solid NCAA Tournament team. The Razorbacks have now won 5 games in a row with a trip to Florida and a home game against Georgia remaining in the regular season before the SEC Tournament.
Football talk
We spent the last several minutes of this episode talking football. First, we discuss Trent’s piece about the best position groups in terms of development under Bret Bielema.
Because it was impossible to avoid, we then talked about Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield’s weekend arrest on Dickson Street in Fayetteville. That led this group of Okies into another direction: Is Dickson Street better or worse as a hangout spot than Norman’s Campus Corner?
And finally, we spent a little time discussing Jason’s Sunday story about Arkansas defensive coordinator Paul Rhoads and his advocacy for Alzheimer’s research.
