Arkansas vs. Tennessee live updates in SEC Baseball Tournament – AL.com

Arkansas looks to bolster its regional hosting chances against Tennessee tonight in the SEC Tournament late game.

No. 5 Arkansas (33-20, 17-12) kicks off its 2015 SEC Tournament hopes against No. 12 seed Tennessee (24-25, 11-18). First pitch is set for 8:35 p.m. CT to cap off the first day of the tournament in Hoover. 

The winner will face No. 4 seed Florida in double-elimination play in the last game on Wednesday. The loser heads home as one-and-done this year. 

Last year, Arkansas made it to the semifinals while Tennessee was knocked out in the opening round by Vanderbilt.

NINTH INNING: Arkansas 2, Tennessee 1

Razorbacks win on a two-out RBI. 

A two-out Rick Nomura single has the Razorbacks with something cooking in the bottom of the ninth inning. 

Tennessee goes three up, three down to start the ninth. Arkansas will have a chance to win coming up in the bottom of the inning. 

EIGHTH INNING: Arkansas 1, Tennessee 1

A strike out to end the inning sends us to the ninth inning tied at 1. 

We’ve got a pitching change at the bottom of the inning. Arkansas has a runner on base with two outs. 

A Benito Santiago RBI-double — his first of the season — ties the game for the Volunteers. We are all knotted at one headed to the bottom of the eighth inning.

SEVENTH INNING

Tennessee can’t get anything done again, but Arkansas finally gets on the board. A Rick Nomura RBI fielder’s choice put the Razorbacks up 1-0. Arkansas strands another two runners on base. 

SIXTH INNING:

The Razorbacks strand another two batters on base — their 11th and 12th for the night — as SEC Player of the Year Andrew Benintendi grounds out with runners on 1st and 3rd. 

The Volunteers get a little something cooking, but a base-running error and a failed stolen base attempt doom any chances to score. 

FIFTH INNING:

Arkansas strands its 10th batter of the night, unable to capitalize on a player on third base to continue the scoreless tie. 

Jordan Rogers breaks up Trey Killian’s no-hitter, but the Volunteers strand him at first. Scoreless headed to the bottom of the inning.

FOURTH INNING:

Razorbacks loaded the bases, but SEC Player of the Year Andrew Benintendi strikes out looking. Still scoreless headed to the fifth. 

Tennessee can’t get anything going, still hitless headed to bottom of the fourth inning. 

THIRD INNING:

Tyler Spoon gets the first hit of the game and advances to second base on a wild pitch, but the Razorbacks are unable to capitalize. We’re still scoreless headed to the fourth inning. 

Volunteers go down in order again in the top half of the third inning. 

SECOND INNING

Tennessee gets out of trouble again. Razorbacks strand a runner, had another runner thrown out trying to steal second and headed to the third inning tied at 0. 

Another hitless half-inning for the Volunteers. Still scoreless headed to the bottom of the inning. 

FIRST INNING

Arkansas unable to capitalize on based loaded in the bottom of the first inning. We headed to the top of the second inning still scoreless. 

Tennessee goes three up, three down to start the game. 

First pitch is in at 8:34 p.m. Tennessee is up first.
