Auburn baseball breaks 5-year NCAA Regional drought – AL.com

Auburn is regional bound for the first time since 2010.

The Tigers will travel to Florida State for the Tallahassee Regional starting Friday.

Auburn is the No. 3 seed in the regional, which also features the Seminoles, two-seed College of Charleston and four-seed Mercer. Auburn will open regional play against College of Charleston at 11 a.m. CT Friday.

Auburn (35-24) was helped tremendously by its schedule, which is ranked the second-toughest in the country by WarrenNolan.com. The Tigers’ RPI entering the week is No. 22, the fifth-best in the SEC. The four SEC teams ahead of Auburn will host NCAA regionals later this week.

Auburn went 1-2 in the SEC Tournament with a victory against Kentucky and losses to LSU and Florida. The Tigers finished the SEC regular season in ninth place overall with a 13-17 record, a finish that usually makes it tough for a team to jump into the NCAA Tournament.
