Bar Customer Beaten With Baseball Bat After Fight With Owner, Son Says; NYPD … – NBC New York

A customer at a Bronx bar was brutally beaten with a baseball bat after he got into a fight with the owner there, the victim’s son says, leaving him with broken ribs, a broken elbow and an eye injury.

The assault on the 56-year-old victim was captured on surveillance video and released by police Monday night. It shows three men in apparent security uniforms attacking the man just after 5:30 a.m. Sunday in front of 2155 Grand Concourse, according to police.

Video shows one of the suspects holding a bat and running down an alley toward the victim, swinging hard as he strikes him, with the two other suspects in tow.

The suspects all appear to be wearing security uniforms, with the word “security” imprinted on the back of the shirts.

Another video obtained by NBC 4 New York Tuesday shows the men jumping out of a car at 182nd Street and hitting the victim before the alley attack in Grand Concourse.

The building superintendent where the victim lives said he found the alleyway attack on video.

“I stumbled upon this barbaric act, a guy with a bat just beating down a tenant,” said Thomas Persivare.

The victim was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was treated and released Tuesday.

The victim’s son told NBC 4 New York sister station Telemundo47 that his father had gotten into a fight with the owner of a nearby Bronx bar while playing pool. He thinks the security workers there went after his father.

NBC 4 has been unable to reach the bar for comment. Police haven’t said whether they’re investigating workers at the business in the assault.
