Last Game
Oregon State scored six runs in the sixth inning after finding itself in a nine-run deficit for a near comeback but the Beavers fell just short in a 12-9 loss on Saturday to Utah Valley. Logan Ice drove in three runs, while Billy King singled three times. KJ Harrison also tallied two doubles in the loss. Oregon State and Utah Valley combined for 21 runs, 28 hits, 17 walks and 14 strikeouts. The game lasted four hours and 20 minutes.

New Positions
On Saturday, only two Oregon State fielders played the same position as they did in the season opener against Ball State. Cadyn Grenier (third) and Kyle Nobach (left field) were the lone two. Trever Morrison (center field), Nick Madrigal (shortstop) and Michael Gretler (catcher) played their respective positions for the first time in their Oregon State careers.

Two Games In, Not Bad
Cadyn Grenier’s first two games with the Beavers have gone pretty well. The freshman is 2-for-4 over those first two games, collecting one RBI, one double and four walks.

Unanimously Top 10
Oregon State is a unanimous top 10 selection as the 2016 unfolds. The Beavers are ranked as high as No. 5 by Baseball America, D1Baseball.com and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). OSU has an average ranking of sixth.

Near Unanimous In The Pac-12
Oregon State earned nine of a possible 10 first-place votes in the Pac-12 Conference’s preseason poll. The Beavers thusly garnered 98 of a possible 100 points to become the near unanimous choice to win the Pac-12. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams.

They’re Sophomores Now
There were just two freshmen named All-Pac-12 last season. KJ Harrison and Drew Rasmussen return as sophomores in 2016 after they were both also named Freshman All-Americans. Harrison was also named the Pac-12’s Freshman of the Year.

Singles
• The Beavers are opening their season in Arizona for the third consecutive season. OSU is 7-3 in opening weekends since 2014.
KJ Harrison is projected to be an All-American by multiple publications.
• OSU is 22-10 in neutral games since 2013.
• Oregon State is 19-9 all-time against the Big Ten Conference. The Beavers defeated both Northwestern and Michigan State in 2015.
