Southside 7, Haltom City (Texas) 2
BASEBALL – The Southside Mavericks got a pair of needed victories Friday at the Justin Northwest Tournament in Fort Worth.
Brock Thibodeaux wiggled out of trouble for much of the game and got plenty of run support in the opener as Southside defeated Haltom City, Texas, 7-2, for its initial win of the season.
Kinner Brasher pitched the Mavericks to a 3-2 win over Frisco Lone Star in the nightcap. The Mavericks play twice more today and then return home Tuesday to play Conway in their 2017 7A-Central opener.

Brasher wasn’t dominant, allowing at least one hit in five of the seven innings.
