Budweiser to celebrate Major League Baseball with limited edition cans – STLtoday.com
A St. Louisan who says he’s looking for work seems to have landed a pretty sweet assignment.
Adam Koon was selected by Anheuser-Busch to design the special-edition Budweiser beer cans that will be released Monday in St. Louis to kick of the new Major League Baseball season.
For the new season, which begins April 2, limited-edition cans will be released in 15 selected cities. Each can was designed by local artists from each city.
Koon, whose LinkedIn profile that he is a “designer & illustrator seeking employment,” said he was contacted about four months ago by A-B representatives.
“I’ve never worked with a company that big before, so it was a crazy experience,” said Koon, who said he drew his inspiration for the design from 1950s memorabilia, and specifically from old Cardinals game tickets. “It really helped a lot to look at historic baseball memorabilia as well as print material to make this a true STL piece.”
Koon worked for Atomicdust for two years after moving to St. Louis in May 2014. Previously, he had lived in New York and Ohio. He is a Columbus, Ohio native.
