Fans who couldn’t make the trip to Omaha, Nebraska are ramping up the noise back home in Charlottesville.
It’s winner takes all in game three.
“Hoping for a w,” said Trevie Pearlman, a UVa fourth year.
For Virginia Cavalier fans a win comes with help from a school cheer and tailgating food.
“This is a four pepper really hot sauce,” said Dave Shreve, a fan and father of a graduate.
“Is this a necessity for a game like tonight?” I asked.
“It is,” Dave said.
Since eight tonight, die-hard fans of UVa have kept their eyes glued to the screen in hopes of catching a big play.
“I’ve followed the team before I came here I really like baseball, so tonight is a really big game,” Pearlman said.
Whether by their fan gear or a shout of support the fans at Wild Wings Cafe in Charlottesville hope their excitement is channeled to Omaha for a win.
“I feel like we have a director line of communication. Mentally our thoughts are with them and they know it and the feel all the love from Charlottesville,” said Sydney Tenhundfeld, a UVa alumnae.
The men’s baseball team has never won a national title, but it isn’t the first time these two teams have met on this national stage. Last year Vanderbuilt beat Virginia during the championship game.
“Beating them is a little nice touch too,” Tenhundfeld said.
This year fans are seeking revenge.
“Oh 100 percent, yeah,” Pearlman said.
