Construction on Youth Baseball Complex Begins – RGVProud

MCALLEN, Texas – After three years of the approval for a youth baseball complex in the city of McAllen, construction is now underway.

The 51-acre lot will feature 12 baseball fields as well as three lakes, picnic tables, and a granite walking trail around the complex. The complex will help boost the economy by being able to host baseball tournaments in the city. It’ll also be a disability-friendly facility.

Mike Hernandez – Parks & Recreation Director says, “One of the fields in this complex, we’re working to make it a miracle field. And it’s going to be an inclusive field, so children that utilize wheelchairs or walkers or have any kind of disability are able to enjoy not just baseball, but a multi-purpose field for any kind of event that we have for them.”

Construction for the baseball complex is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The facility will be located at the corner of Auburn and 29th Street.
