CHAT: Ask Fitt & Rogers Questions
LSU finished its regular season with a 46-9 overall record, a Southeastern Conference regular-season championship and the No. 1 ranking in the D1Baseball Top 25. The Tigers remained in the top spot for the fifth straight week after winning a road series at South Carolina to clinch the SEC title.
There was only minor shuffling in the first half of the rankings, as just one team in the top 10 had a losing weekend. Florida State was swept at home by Clemson and fell from No. 8 to No. 13, while ACC rival Miami obliterated Georgia Tech in a three-game sweep to move up a spot to No. 8. Vanderbilt and Missouri State also moved up one spot apiece to fill out the top 10.
Iowa took the biggest fall of the week, dropping eight spots from No. 14 to No. 22 after losing a series to Rutgers. Otherwise, there was only minor shuffling in the back half of the rankings. The biggest climbers were College of Charleston (up three spots to No. 15) and Houston (up three spots to No. 19).
For the first time all season, no teams dropped out of the rankings and no new teams entered.
D1Baseball editors Aaron Fitt and Kendall Rogers determine the Top 25 rankings. Records are through games of May 17.
