LSU remained No. 1 in the D1Baseball Top 25 rankings for the third straight week after winning a road series at Mississippi State. The Tigers remain tied with Texas A&M atop the SEC West, a game behind Vanderbilt in the league’s overall standings. LSU’s three-week reign at No. 1 in the rankings is the longest since Vandy opened the season with three straight weeks at No. 1.
Louisville moved up a spot to No. 2 after a 2-1 week, while UCLA slipped one spot to No. 3 following a 2-2 week that featured a midweek loss to Long Beach State and a hard-fought series win against sub-.500 Gonzaga. Illinois jumped two spots to No. 6 after sweeping a road series against Ohio State. Florida State, Vandy and Florida moved up one spot apiece to round out the back of the top 10.
The biggest mover of the week was Arkansas, which climbed four spots to No. 20 after sweeping a road series at Alabama, the sixth straight series win for the Hogs.
Three teams joined the Top 25 this week. Oregon State returned to the rankings at No. 22 after winning a road series at Washington, giving the Beavers three straight series wins (including a marquee home series win against Southern California last weekend). Auburn and Radford each made their debuts in the rankings at No. 23 and No. 25, respectively. Auburn won its third straight SEC series, taking two of three at South Carolina. Radford, which dropped a pair of tough road series early this year against Auburn and College of Charleston, won its eight consecutive series this weekend, outscoring James Madison 58-13 in a three-game sweep.
D1Baseball editors Aaron Fitt and Kendall Rogers determine the Top 25 rankings. Records are through games of May 3.
