Daily Fantasy Baseball 2015: Best MLB Position Player Picks for May 10 – Bleacher Report

Happy Mother’s Day to every mom out there. You know what would make this an even more special Mother’s Day? If mama got a win in DraftKings to add some profit to her bank on Sunday.

That’s exactly why we’re here. As several series come to a close on Sunday, here’s a look at the top position players to choose for May 10.

First Baseman: Eric Hosmer, Kansas City Royals ($4,900)

Just when it seemed like Eric Hosmer might have slowed down a bit, the Royals’ big bat has heated back up in a big way. Hosmer recently had two games with 25 fantasy points or more in DraftKings thanks to home runs over the last several games.

Averaging 13.1 fantasy points with eight extra-base hits, four homers and 12 RBI over a 10-game stretch, Hosmer is the perfect choice for Sunday night.

Second Baseman: Robinson Cano, Seattle Mariners ($4,600)

Robinson Cano hasn’t brought the production that fantasy owners hoped for this season with the Seattle Mariners, but he’s finding consistency at the plate. With five hits over his last three games prior to Saturday, Cano has a shot to continue that trend on Sunday.

Going up against Jesse Chavez, Cano has gone 5-for-11 with an RBI and a walk in his career. Though it’s a small sample size, it’s clear that Cano has been successful against Chavez. As he continues to heat up, don’t leave Cano out of your lineup against the right-handed pitcher.

Third Baseman: Miguel Cabrera, Detroit Tigers ($5,500)

If there’s one player worth spending a huge chunk of the salary on, it’s Miguel Cabrera. The Detroit Tigers’ biggest bat is averaging over nine fantasy points per game this season and doing so with an on-base percentage of over .400.

Getting on base is something Cabrera has done on a consistent basis over his career, per Ace of MLB Stats:

Even with a righty-on-righty matchup against Chris Young, Cabrera’s still a strong start due to his patience at the plate. Expect him to add to his already successful season and make fantasy owners happy on Sunday against the Royals.

Shortstop: Alcides Escobar, Kansas City Royals ($3,900)

Already off to a hot season, Alcides Escobar finally showed some of the pop he has in his bat on Saturday. In an already explosive lineup, Escobar is known more for his speed and contact. But with his first homer earlier this weekend, his comfort level is clearly growing this season.

Kansas City’s leadoff batter has multiple hits in three of his last four games with at least six or more fantasy points over that stretch. Not to mention, Shane Greene has allowed 20 runs and 23 hits in just 11 innings in his last three starts.

Suffice to say, this is the shortstop every fantasy owner needs to plug in on Sunday.

Outfielder: Justin Upton, San Diego Padres ($5,100)

When Justin Upton makes contact, the ball tends to go a long way. Even when he hasn’t been making contact recently, Upton is still registering fantasy points for his owners. In fact, one of his best performances recently was when he finished with no hits, four walks and two runs on Wednesday.

Look for Upton to remain dependable on Sunday against his former team in the Arizona Diamondbacks. Though his numbers haven’t been as stellar on the road, Upton will still crush for fantasy owners.
