Starting pitcher: As noted above, I prefer Carrasco ($10,600) to the more expensive Scherzer due to their matchups. The Orioles aren’t great, but the Blue Jays are worse … Robbie Ray ($9,200) looks better than you think against the Tigers, who rank 22nd in wOBA (.298) with too many strikeouts vs. LHP … Tampa’s Matt Andriese ($7,900) vs. the terrible Royals is certainly an option … Morton’s status as a big favorite is appealing. He has averaged 29 DK points over his last two starts, and has 39 strikeouts in 34 innings … Oakland’s Jharel Cotton ($7,800) looked strong last time out, and he’ll probably face a Trout-less Angels’ lineup.
Catcher: Gary Sanchez ($4,800) is in a great spot vs. Tim Adleman, but he’s soooo expensive … Buster Posey ($3,900) is more reasonable but has a lower ceiling … Brian McCann ($3,400) vs. Bartolo Colon? Yep … James McCann is mentioned above.
First base: Ryan Zimmerman ($4,900) tops the non-Coors options vs. Ubaldo Jimenez … Jose Abreu ($4,500) has seven double-digit DK games in his last 10, and faces lefty Hector Santiago … Cody Bellinger ($3,500), future Hall of Famer, faces the overhyped Ivan Nova … Alonso is mentioned above.
Second base: Daniel Murphy ($5,000) is in a great spot vs. Ubaldo … So is Robinson Cano ($4,300) vs. Jerad Eickhoff … Starlin Castro ($3,800) is one of many attractive Yankees vs. Adleman … Kolten Wong ($3,300) has a 13-game hitting streak, and leads off vs. Dan Straily … Chris Taylor ($3,100) homered Monday night, and has received more playing time lately. He’s not as good an option as Wong, as he bats sixth.
Third base: If you pay for one Coors hitter, it should be Kris Bryant ($5,500) vs. Kyle Freeland … At sea level, look first to Anthony Rendon ($4,600) vs. Ubaldo … Miguel Sano ($4,300) is at a nice price against a bad pitcher … Southpaw destroyer Eugenio Suarez ($3,600) faces the very shaky CC Sabathia … Gotta love Josh Harrison ($3,300) leading off vs. Urias.
Shortstop: Addison Russell ($4,400) is pretty cheap for a Coors hitter … Francisco Lindor ($4,500) looks pretty good vs. Mike Bolsinger, as does Corey Seager ($4,300). But for the price, I’d lean Russell or Jean Segura, who has been tearing it up lately … Again, I hate the cheap shortstops. One possibility is Giants 3B/SS Christian Arroyo ($3,100) vs. Zack Wheeler.
Outfield: Bryce Harper ($5,400) is the chalk vs. Ubaldo … A rested Aaron Judge ($4,600) looks strong vs. Adleman … George Springer ($4,500) hasn’t been bad lately in terms of hits and DK points, but he’s overdue for a homer. Maybe the slop-throwing Bartolo Colon will help … Adam Duvall ($4,200) must have dreamt happily about his Sabathia matchup … More Yankee options include Brett Gardner ($4,200) and Jacoby Ellsbury ($3,900) … Midrange guys I like are Avisail Garcia ($3,700 vs. Santiago), Josh Reddick ($3,600 vs. Colon) and Aaron Altherr ($3,500 vs. Ariel Miranda) … Brandon Belt ($3,500) fits here and at 1B … The solid, cheap play is Seattle’s Ben Gamel ($3,000) vs. Eickhoff. Gamel has three double-digit DK games in his last five.
