Daily fantasy baseball hitter matchups

– Lorenzo Cain (.969 OPS), Ben Zobrist (.912), and even Alex Gordon (.816) have all hit lefties well this year, giving them extra value against Roenis Elias.

– Ivan Nova has noticeably different splits against righties (.213/.306/.380) and lefties (.313/.370/.516). Good news for Ben Revere and Justin Smoak (if he plays); bad news for most of the rest of Toronto’s lineup.

Editor’s note: The Sporting News Football Championship is here! Hosted by FanDuel, this exclusive event will feature 10 weeks of qualifiers, culminating in a FREE Week 11 Final with $20,000 in prizes. Sign up now!

– Justin Verlander has allowed a .204/.258/.332 line to lefties this year, so don’t overpay for Chicago’s key lefties, mainly Adam Eaton and switch-hitter Melky Cabrera.

Chris Tillman has nearly identical splits against righties and lefties — except when it comes to homers allowed. Tillman has allowed 16 of his 19 homers to righties, so give a little extra consideration to the Nationals’ heavy-hitting righties (Jayson Werth, Ian Desmond, etc.).

– Lefties have hit well against Williams Perez all season (.305/.385/.488), so value Curtis GrandersonLucas Duda, and Daniel Murphy higher than usual.

– Darin Ruf (1.080 OPS), Cameron Rupp (1.012), Andres Blanco (.967), and Carlos Ruiz (.933), have all crushed lefties this season. Give them extra consideration against Adam Conley.

– Good news for all Marlins — repeat, all Marlins — David Buchanan has allowed a .356/.428/.582 line in 58.1 innings this year.

– A lefty against the Red Sox (Drew Smyly) means enhanced valued for Jackie Bradley Jr. (1.110 OPS vs. LHP this year), Xander Bogaerts (.917), Ryan Hanigan (.895), Rusney Castillo (.878), and Dustin Pedroia (.865).

– Lefties have had a good amount of success against Kyle Hendricks (.279/.340/.500), so don’t be shy about paying up for Adam Lind. If you’re really looking for cheap sleepers, you can try Scooter Gennett and Logan Schafer.

– Phil Hughes has been tagged for 29 homers this year and allowed a .554 SLG to righties. Get one or two of Cleveland’s heavy hitters in your lineup, especially Yan Gomes.

– Stephen Piscotty (.954 OPS vs. LHP this season) is a great option against Brandon Finnegan, but don’t overpay for Kolten Wong (.548).

– Lance Lynn (.241/.302/.320 vs. righties and .272/.369/.460 vs. lefties) has some notable splits. Adjust accordingly with your Reds hitters.

– Charlie Morton has been knocked around by lefties (.282/.374/.477), and with the game in Colorado, those splits will likely be exaggerated. Charlie Blackmon, Jose ReyesCarlos GonzalezJustin Morneau/Ben Paulsen, and Corey Dickerson figure to make it a short night for Morton.

– Christian Bergman has some pretty drastic reverse-platoon splits against righties (.341/.368/.619). Good news for Andrew McCutchenStarling MarteAramis Ramirez (if healthy), and maybe even Jordy Mercer.

– Mike Napoli‘s .934 OPS vs. LHP this year makes him a great option against Felix Dubrount. Rangers’ teammate Adrian Beltre (.849) is a good play, too.

– Get some Giants’ lefties — maybe Brandon CrawfordAlejandro De Aza or Angel Pagan — in your DFS lineup against Andrew Cashner, who’s allowed a .284/.370/.516 line to lefthanded batters this season.
