Saves Sleepers

Sean  Doolittle announced Monday that he feels like his old self, and he went out and picked up a save later that day with a perfect ninth inning. That’s four straight scoreless frames for Doolittle, who should hold Oakland’s closer job the rest of the season.

Detroit’s Bruce Rondon danced out of trouble on Monday en route to his fourth save of the year. Southpaw Blaine Hardy actually started the ninth inning against lefty Kevin Kiermaier, but Rondon finished off the game despite allowing a hit and two walks. He’ll continue to close for the Tigers, but clearly he’s on thin ice.

Twins manager Paul Molitor said on Monday that Glen Perkins is progressing slowly from his back injury. At this point, fantasy owners shouldn’t expect much from him the rest of the way. Kevin Jepsen will continue to close for Minnesota.

Weather Watch

There’s some rain in the forecast today, with the Indians-White Sox (82-percent chance of showers) the most likely to be affected. The Twins-Royals (79), Cubs-Cardinals (58), and  Rays-Tigers (36) could also see delays.
