Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks: Starting pitcher rankings, strategy for May 6 – Sporting News
Our daily fantasy baseball picks continue with starting pitcher rankings and advice for Friday’s MLB slate.
It’s going to be difficult for many to choose a pitcher tonight, as our rankings are loaded with good options. From aces (Syndergaard, Scherzer), to high-upside strikeout sleepers (Salazar, Hill), to values with great matchups (Chen, Latos), you can go a lot of different directions. If you’re playing on two-SP sites, you can still get great pitching stats even if you bypass one of the aces.

Of course, paying up for Syndergaard or Madison Bumgarner isn’t necessarily a bad idea, as they still have the most upside on the board You’ll just have to work a little harder to find the right hitters. Let’s take a look at today’s starting pitcher rankings and picks. As usual, we’ll also have daily fantasy baseball hitter picks and the DFS Playbook from Fantasy Alarm to help you find the best values on FanDuel and DraftKings. Good luck!
Daily fantasy baseball picks
Splurge: Zack Greinke, D-backs at Braves. If you want to pay up for Noah Syndergaard (@SD) or Madison Bumgarner (vs. COL), we’re not going to stop you, but Greinke offers plenty of upside and perhaps a reduced ownership given his up-and-down season. He checks in as the third-most expensive starter on FanDuel ($10,800) and fourth-most expensive on DraftKings ($10,100), but with a great matchup against Atlanta, he should put up good numbers.
Sell: Cole Hamels, Rangers at Tigers. Despite relatively mediocre numbers this year, Hamels costs $9,900 on both FanDuel and DraftKings today. Considering he’s going against a Tigers’ offense that’s packed with lefty-killers, it doesn’t make sense to pay up for him.

Save: Marcus Stroman, Blue Jays vs. Dodgers. There are a lot of different options here, but at just $8,100 on FanDuel (13th-most expensive SP), Stroman is the best bargain. He’s the 10th-most expensive SP on DraftKings ($9,200), but that’s still a relative pittance for a pitcher with Stroman’s upside. If his last start is any indication (8 IP, run, 9 Ks), he’ll pay off at this price.
