Davidson is the Cinderella of the NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament – CBSSports.com
The Davidson Wildcats during the regular season went a middling 13-11 in Atlantic 10 play and made the field of 64 only after a title run in the A-10 tourney. They entered the NCAA Tournament with an RPI ranking of 126. If one were inclined toward bad jokes, one might say something like “Haha, lol, that’s more like an RIP ranking,” but I am not so inclined. Anyhow, despite that bottom-feeding RPI, the Wildcats went 3-0 in the Chapel Hill regional and twice upset powerhouse North Carolina in its home yard. Here’s the final out of the clincher on Sunday …

Pictured above? Substantial and wholly justifiable Baseball Exuberance. Also pictured above? A team that’s advancing to the super regionals for the first time in school history. Circling back to RPI for a moment, UNC coming into the tourney ranked second — i.e., 124 spots ahead of Davidson.
In the best-of-three super regional, Davidson will play Texas A&M, which means another baseball miracle will be required if they’re to advance to the College World Series in Omaha. Recent events, however, suggest the ‘Cats just might be up for it.
