Explorers find over $1 million in baseball cards in Detroit warehouse – SI.com

An abandoned warehouse in Detroit has turned into a treasure trove for a group of urban explorers after they discovered crates filled with untouched sports cards.

The Daily Mail reports that the entire collection of cards from the MLB, NHL and NASCAR could be worth over $1 million. One of the explorers, who identified himself as Slanks, claims that selling valuable cards he finds in the boxes is his primary source of income.

Since “finders keepers” is not a very strong legal argument, taking the cards is breaking the law as they belong to either the warehouse’s owner or whoever paid to have them stored there before it was abandoned, but no owner or representative has appeared at the building in several decades, according to the article.
