Fantasy Baseball: Two-start pitcher rankings for Week 25 – CBSSports.com
Gross.
This particular crop of two-start pitchers is our clearest indication yet that two-start pitchers aren’t the way to go in September. So if you’ve made it this far through excessive streaming, congratulations, you’re about to get your cosmic comeuppance.
Not only is it a short list with so many six-man rotations across the league and so few teams playing seven games this week, but it’s a bottom-heavy list as well. Goofy Robert Gsellman, with his nothing pedigree, pitch-to-contact approach and 1.41 WHIP through five appearances, is in the top half, for crying out loud.
Given his matchups and the lack of alternatives, he passes as a sleeper this week, as do the three names ahead of him. You wondered why I was so eager to buy into Taijuan Walker again after only one dominant start? Now you know.
Be careful not to overreach here. Everyone after Joe Musgrove is dangerous and everyone after, say, Josh Tomlin is downright toxic. One-start pitchers can do big things, too, you know. With only 15 tolerable options here — and that’s assuming Jose Fernandez doesn’t get shut down early — simply having two two-start pitchers puts you ahead of the curve.
