CALL TO THE ‘PEN
Rays’ manager Kevin Cash suggested on Friday that Jake McGee (elbow) is still a couple weeks away from returning. The Rays want McGee to work multiple innings and on back-to-back days during his rehab assignment before activating him. Brad Boxberger, who struck out the side en route to his fifth save of the season on Friday, will continue to close in McGee’s absence. … Kenley Jansen (foot) might not immediately resume closing duties when activated, according to manager Don Mattingly. Jansen is expected back in mid-May, but Mattingly said he wants to ease Jansen back into the closer’s role. Yimi Garcia and Chris Hatcher are currently taking turns in the ninth inning for the Dodgers. … Neftali Feliz blew his second save of the year on Friday, allowing two hits and a run against the A’s. The Rangers were trying to get a multi-inning save out of Feliz, which was also the case during his first blown save. Feliz hasn’t been sharp this year, but the Rangers lack any other real options behind him. His job should be safe for now.
