It happens just about every time there is a big game of any kind in any sport, mayors of cities whose teams are playing bet things their city’s are known for on their team.
Honestly, it’s getting a little played out. Fortunately, there is a new trend starting in baseball, transit authorities making bets through Twitter.
It started late last month when New York’s MTA and the Los Angeles Metro got into a hilarious Twitter fight that resulted in a bet on the Mets vs. the Dodgers.
With the Mets moving on to the NLCS to face the Cubs, the MTA has already started the conversation with the CTA.
The New York @Mets — onward to Chicago! Hey @cta, care to make a friendly wager? A slice to the #NLCS winner? #LGM

Friday, the CTA responded and decided to up the ante a bit. Sure, the fact that they are betting pizza is a bit cliche, but it’s kind of awesome anyway.
.@MTA You’re on. How about a slice for every home run? @cubs https://t.co/GTH53w76PH #FlyTheW

The MTA responded later in the day, and it’s officially on. Get the home run tracker going, things could get interesting.
.@cta It is ON. Get ready to deliver a lot of slices! We prefer NY-style. @Mets #letsgomets #nlcs @Cubs

The Cubs and Mets start their series Saturday in New York.
