The former baseball player and MLB Network analyst died in what investigators believe to be a murder-suicide, police said Monday. The body of a woman, identified as Monica Jordan, was also discovered at the scene.
Police said that Hamilton, 50, had been shot multiple times, while 44-year-old Jordan had sustained one self-inflicted gunshot wound.
“At this point it does not appear that there was any kind of struggle. The incident occurred just inside the front door,” Lieutenant Onesimo Lopez told reporters at the scene, Reuters reports.
The couple’s 14-month-old child was found unharmed inside the home and was taken into custody by Texas Child Protective Services.
Hamilton played for 13 seasons with multiple teams before hanging up his mitt to work in broadcasting.
