How did White Sox star Todd Frazier troll Miami baseball alums following Rutgers’ win? – NJ.com

The University of Miami’s baseball program is a perennial National Championship contender. Rutgers has a program that’s on the rise, but traditionally isn’t on the same level as the Hurricanes, who have appeared in the College World Series in each of the past two seasons.

Todd Frazier knows the history as well as anyone, and it’s why the Chicago White Sox third baseman was quick to steal some bragging rights after the Scarlet Knights snapped a 16-game losing streak at the hands of the Hurricanes on Sunday afternoon.

After Rutgers topped Miami, 17-6, on Sunday to avoid a three-game sweep, Frazier took to Twitter to troll a few of the Hurricanes’ professional alums.

After falling 3-0 in the opener and 8-4 in the second game, the Scarlet Knights erupted for 16 hits and 16 of their 17 runs over the final six innings to defeat the Hurricanes for the first time in six years.

Mike Carter and Gaby Rosa led the way offensively, each going 3-for-5 with seven RBI combined, while Chris Folinusz, Milo Freeman, Jawuan Harris and Christian Campbell collected two hits apiece.

Harris, a sophomore centerfielder who also plays wide receiver on the Rutgers football team, capped a productive series that included a .500 batting average, two home runs, three RBI, two doubles, two stolen bases, six runs scored and 13 total bases.

Frazier, who starred at Rutgers from 2005-07, is set to begin his seventh Major League season for the White Sox. The Toms River native is coming off a season in which he produced career highs in home runs (40), RBI (98) and runs scored (89) while producing a .767 OPS.

Frazier preparing for contract year

Frazier took his tweet one step further, calling out former Miami stars Yonder Alonso, Ryan Braun, Jon Jay and Zack Collins on the MLB Network show Intentional Talk on Monday afternoon.

“The University of Miami are top dogs in baseball and Rutgers always goes down there and battles them,” said Frazier, who tried to get his White Sox teammate, Collins, to wear a Rutgers jacket to no avail. “Joe Litterio, the head coach, and (assistant coaches’) Casey Gaynor and Tim Reilly, my boys down there in New Brunswick, taking down Miami, 17-6. … Bottom line is Rutgers is back and we’re coming. Let’s go.”
