Oregon State tallied 14 hits and five walks in a 13-6 victory over Portland at Joe Etzel Field on Tuesday.
The win moved the Beavers to 16-2 heading into their three-game series in Berkeley against California from Thursday to Saturday.
Left fielder Christian Donahue went 3 for 6 with the team’s lone triple and centerfielder Kyle Nobach went 2 for 4 with a team-high three runs batted in. Freshman second baseman Nick Madrigal extended his hit streak to 12 games and upped his batting average to .405 with a 2 for 3 night.
Oregon State pitched by committee to save its starting arms for its series against the Golden Bears. Freshman Bryce Fehmel improved to 5-0, throwing three innings in his first career start and allowing three hits and one earned run. He struck out five hitters.
Scotland Church pitched the final three innings and earned his first save of the year. He hit two batters but did not allow a hit.

End 5th: Oregon State 10, Portland 3. Pilots centerfielder Caleb Whalen hit a two-run homer deep to left field off Luke Heimlich, who bounced back to strikeout the next two hitters.
