FINAL – Texas A&M wins 4-3 and Alabama leaves them loaded in the ninth.
Alabama plays tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. in an elimination game.
9th INNING: Texas A&M 4, Alabama 3
Andrew Vinson in to pitch. Haynie singles, but Cucjen thrown out at the plate. He was pinch-running. That’s out 2.
8th INNING: Texas A&M 4, Alabama 3
* Alabama goes 1-2-3 with some its top three hitters up. Hughston tattooed one to center, but A&M CF Choruby made the catch and crashed into the wall. 10 feet either direction, it might be a home run.
* A&M gets a 1-out HBP and then a single. Thomas Burrows (1-3, 3.37) in to pitch. Banks with an RBI single to give Aggies a 4-3 lead. Burrows then gets 2 strikeouts.
7th INNING: Alabama 3, Texas A&M 3
* Ryan Hendrix (4-2, 4.57) in for TAMU. Line on Long – 6 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 10 K, 1 BB, 117 pitches.
* Alabama goes 1-2-3. Tide needs more production, or balls hit in play, by bottom of order. Haynie 0-3 with 2 strikeouts, Colburn 0-3 with 3 strikeouts.
* A&M’s 8-9-1 hitters all retired in order.
6th INNING: Alabama 3, Texas A&M 3
* 1-2-3 inning. Long up to 10 strikeouts and after a long at-bat where he struck out Wilhite, he’s pumping his chest and fired up. But that’s also 117 pitches for Long, so we’ll see if he comes out for the next inning.
* A&M’s Banks walks with one out and a single means the Aggies have something going. Ray Castillo (3-0, 2.70) coming in to pitch for Alabama. After a long at-bat, Nottebrook hits into a 5-3 double play.
* Final line on Jake Walters – 5.1 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 4 K
5th INNING: Alabama 3, Texas A&M 3
* Salem singled, but erased on a 5-4-3 DP. Hughston’s flyout to deep center just looked nice, but was an out.
* Two quick A&M outs and then a two-out walk. That propelled the Aggies to three runs in the third. But a flyout ends it.
4th INNING: Alabama 3, Texas A&M 3
* 2 strikeouts and a groundout quickly end Alabama’s half as momentum might be shifting. Doesn’t seem like it, but Long already has eight strikeouts. Two each to Haynie, Colburn and Salem.
* Walters bounces back with a nice inning and gets A&M 1-2-3.
3rd INNING: Alabama 3, Texas A&M 3
* Hughston 2-out single, steals 2nd, scores on Overstreet single. Another inning where Alabama’s getting two on. Wilhite strikes out to end the threat, but Alabama off to a great start.
* 2 quick outs and a walk for A&M. RBI double from Birk makes it 3-1. Nau singles to right and Birk apparently beats the throw home, a great one from Hughston, according to ump Tony Maners, to make it 3-2. Taylor with a deep double to score Nau to tie it and Alabama’s got guys running to the bullpen. Hughston with a diving catch in RF to end it.
2nd INNING: Alabama 2, Texas A&M 0
First two reach and Cody Henry doubles down LF line to score first run. Wilhite RBI single for 2-0. But, two strikeouts and a flyout strand 2. Walters gets 2 strikeouts in a 1-2-3 bottom.
1st INNING: Alabama 0, Texas A&M 0
* Alabama goes 1-2-3 with two strikeouts. A&M strands one.
