LSU, Tulane climb forward in national baseball rankings after sweeps – NOLA.com

Both LSU and Tulane moved forward in the national baseball rankings Monday after weekend sweeps of Arkansas and South Florida, respectively.

The Tigers (31-16) jumped as many as six spots in the Collegiate Baseball poll and has high as No. 11 on the Baseball America list.

Coach Paul Mainieri’s squad heads to Notre Dame for midweek matchups Tuesday and Wednesday as No. 11, No. 16 and No. 21, according to Baseball America, D1Baseball.com and Collegiate Baseball, respectively.

LSU then visits Tennessee for a weekend series, beginning Friday.

The Green Wave (31-14) jumped more than 10 spots for Collegiate Baseball, going from outside the top 30 all the way up to No. 19.

Tulane also moved up slightly on the D1Baseball.com and Baseball America lists to No. 15 and No. 18, respectively.

Coach David Pierce and company host their next six games at Tuchin Stadium: UNO on Tuesday, Southern on Wednesday, three games with Memphis beginning Friday and then Nicholls State next Tuesday.

Louisiana-Lafayette (31-17) dropped from the D1Baseball.com rankings after going 2-1 against Appalachian State.

The Ragin’ Cajuns visit Houston on Wednesday, then South Alabama this weekend.

Florida (40-8) remained No. 1 on all three sets of rankings after going 3-1 this past week with a 2-1 weekend series against Tennessee.

Miami (35-9) and Texas A&M (37-10) are the only other consensus top-five teams among the three lists, each ranking as high as No. 2.

Florida State (32-13), Louisville (38-10), Mississippi State (33-14), South Carolina (36-11) and Texas Tech (37-13) each made all three top 10s, with Mississippi State and South Carolina each ranking as high as third.
