Man sought in baseball-bat attack – The Mercury News

MORGAN HILL — Police are looking for a 47-year-old man wanted in a baseball-bat beating that left a neighbor with major injuries.

Mark Weber is at large and is considered armed and dangerous. Police advise anyone who sees Weber not to approach him and to call 911 immediately.

The dispute between the neighbors was centered around the victim’s dog, according to Special Operations Sgt. Carson Thomas, a department spokesman.

“It seems like it was an ongoing neighbor dispute involving one of the dogs,” Thomas said.

Thomas said the victim, who sustained life threatening injuries, is recovering and was taken out of the intensive care unit Wednesday.

Morgan Hill police were sent at 12:45 p.m. Friday to the 200 block of Oak Grove court for a report of a fight in which one male was beating another with a baseball bat. A second caller said Weber had just killed his neighbor with a bat.

Officers found the victim inside his home with major injuries to his torso, legs and head. He was taken to a local hospital and Weber fled before police arrived, and he has so far eluded them.

Thomas stressed that residents should not approach Weber and call police if they see him.

“We want to remind people that he is armed and dangerous based on his level of brutality,” Thomas said. “Call us and let us do the investigation rather than try to approach him.”
