It’s a new dawn of the sport in Cuba when Major League Baseball’s current stars, even some who fled the island nation years ago, step into the outfield. It happened recently and ESPN’s Marly Rivera was there to experience and document it first-hand. Now she’s back on the Max y Marly podcast to share her experience.

“It was amazing,” Rivera said of her trip.

The entire topic is a personal one for co-host Max Bretos as well. He’s Cuban-American and his history with the island nation and the site of Cuba’s new baseball stadium goes deep, since his father is from the same town, Matanzas.

It’s a fascinating look at both a changing political scene in Cuba and the ongoing impact of the country’s love affair with the sport of baseball. Tune in to the podcast for the entire experience.
