The city is planning to build 17 baseball fields near the Nusenda Community Stadium on Albuquerque’s west side.

The city picked the spot because it’s close to the highway and near the current stadium.

Neighbors said they support the move and don’t see the extra noise or traffic being an issue.

“We want more restaurants and stuff on this side of town, and what’s a better way to get it?  We might have a little bit of traffic, but I can deal with it if everybody else can,” said Carlos Silva, who lives nearby.

Construction should start by the end of May. The project is slated to be done by the summer of 2017.
