Red Sox tape rookie to dugout pole, provide further proof that baseball is weird – SB Nation

Baseball loves to haze its rookies. Most of the time it’s harmless fun. Sometimes, it involves dropping rookies off behind enemy lines. On Saturday, Henry Owens, a 23-year-old rookie pitcher with the Red Sox, got his from his teammates.

Thankfully, The Panda came to save the day.

It didn’t go unnoticed that, much like their on-field performance, the Red Sox taping skills have diminished drastically. Just look at what they did to Pedro Martinez in 1999.

Stay weird, baseball.
