9:03 PM, Ball game!: Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa scores in the final at-bat, as Cole Frederick singles and it’s a 4-3 final a Paterson Field.

8:55 PM, Tie game: Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa scores and it’s 3-all in the bottom of the seventh inning.

8:43 PM, Cullman scores: Ben Smith drives in Grayson Taylor with the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh, making it 3-2.

8:28 PM, Heading to the seventh inning: It’s 2-all, y’all.

8:25 PM, Tie game: Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa‘s Blake Robbins singles up the middle, driving it two runs to make it 2-all in the bottom of the sixth inning.

8:21 PM, Rally?: Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa puts runninges on first and second with one out in the bottom of the sixth.The Patriots trail 2-0 and have just three hits.

8:12 PM, Another run: Cullman‘s Noah Fondren draws a bases-loaded walk and it’s now 2-0 over Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa.

8:05 PM, At Paterson Field, Cullman leads 1-0 over Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa in the top of the sixth. The game has had just four hits.

8:03 PM, FINAL SCORE: Russellville 5, Faith Academy 3

8:02 PM: Russellville sweeps Faith Academy today and repeats as Class 5A state champs. Complete-game victory for Austin Kitterman.

7:58 PM: Russellville takes a 5-3 lead into the seventh needing three outs. Sargent, Shepard and Jackson Bell scheduled. Kitterman still pitching.

7:56 PM: Cullman scores on a throwing error in the fifth inning and leads Hillcrest 1-0.

7:55 PM: Colin Garrison with a pinch-hit RBI single for Russellville, increasing the lead to 5-3 in the bottom of the sixth. Gonna be a tough road for Faith now against Bohannon and possibly ace Cody Greenhill.

7:48 PM: Austin Kitterman gets Faith in order in the sixth. Headed to the bottom half with Russellville clinging to a 4-3 lead and three outs away from a Class 6A repeat.

7:37 PM: Russellville takes the lead. Judd Ward doubles, goes to third when the right fielder fumbles the ball and scores on a wild pitch. Golden Tigers up 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth.

7:31 PM: Still scoreless: Cullman and Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa are tied at 0-0 after three innings, but Hillcrest’s Walt Bailey does have the game’s only hit.

7:26 PM: Still tied: Through four at Riverwalk, Faith Academy and Russellville still tied 3-3. Gabe Shepard with five strikeouts. Rams have had three runners thrown out on the bases or it might be a different story.

7:13 PM: Going fast: Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa pitcher Michael Garner and Cullman pitcher Jacob Heatherly have combined for just 37 pitches, and the first two inning have lasted just 17 minutes. No score and no hits.

7:10 PM: Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa and Cullman are scoreless through one at Paterson. Faith, Russellville tied 3-all after three at Riverwalk in Game 3.

7:06 PM: Quick start: Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa gets three outs in the top of the first in just 2 minutes. Scoreless tie, as the Patriots come to bat for the first time.

7:04 PM: Tie game: Will Freeman ties it for Faith with a ringing double off the wall but is thrown out at home on Reece Ewing’s single. New ball game. Faith 3, Russellville 3.

6:58 PM: Cullman and Hillcrest are underway at Paterson in the Class 6A opener.

6:55 PM: After two, Russellville leads Faith 3-2.

6:45 PM: Faith has two runners thrown out on the bases, but cuts the lead to 3-2 after 1.5. Golden Tigers coming to bat in the second.

6:41 PM: Faith clawing back in the game. Chris Sargent’s two-run single cuts Russellville lead to 3-2.

6:34 PM: Shepard gets out of it, but Austin Kitterman has a 3-0 lead to work with after 1. That inning consistend of three Russellville hits, two Faith errors, a wild pitch and a balk.

6:30 PM: Gabe Shepard balks a third run in. It’s 3-0 Russellville with only one out in the first.

6:28 PM: Faith falling apart a bit. Landon Oliver with a two-run single. Another Faith error — the second of the inning — sends him to second.

6:25 PM: Big trouble for the Rams in the first. Two hits, an error and a wild pitch have runners at second and third and no outs and Matt Seymour visits the mound.

6:19 PM: Faith gets a hit and a runner to third but can’t score. Eight scoreless innings today so far for the Rams. Russellville coming to bat.

6:11 PM: Faith’s Gabe Shepard (8-1, 0.90 ERA) takes on Russellville’s Austin Kitterman (9-1, 1.66 ERA). Golden Tigers have taken the field. They are looking for their second consecutive state title. Faith looking for its first in AHSAA.

6:02 PM: Russellville won the toss and will be the home team for the second straight game.

FINAL SCORE: Hewitt-Trussville 6, Auburn 0 (Class 7A, Game 1)

5:58 PM: Hewitt-Trussville beats Auburn 6-0 to take a 1-0 lead in their best-of-three series. Game 2 is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Riverwalk Stadium.

5:50 PM: Headed to the bottom of the seventh with Hewitt-Trussville still leading 6-0. Huskies stranged runners at second and third in the top  half.

5:41 PM: At Paterson, Hewitt still leads 6-0 after six innings over Auburn.

FINAL: Russellville 3, Faith Academy 0

5:39 PM: Russellville defeats Faith 3-0 to force a deciding Game 3. Austin Bohannon with a complete game no-hitter. Golden Tigers win the toss and will be the home team again for the final game.

5:33 PM: Closing in on Game 3? Headed to the top of the seventh at Riverwalk. Faith, which won Game 1, trails 3-0 in this one and has just one hit. Golden Tigers have only three hits in a well-pitched game.

5:31 PM: Hewitt scores three unearned runs in the top of the sixth and now leads 6-0 over Auburn. The Tigers have committed four errors.

5:26 PM: Austin Bohannon strikes out Christian Waltman to end the threat. Golden Tigers still lead 3-0 in the bottom of the sixth.

5:23 PM: No hitter is done: Brooks Carlson’s two-out triple to right center ends Austin Bohannon’s no-hit bid in the sixth. Still 3-0 Russellville.

5:18 PM: Michael Morris gets out of the jam for Faith. But Russellville scores 2 in the fifth and now leads 3-0 headed to the sixth. 

5:17 PM: At Paterson, Huskies up 3-0 in the bottom of the fifth.

5:13 PM: Pitching change at Riverwalk: Reed Smith’s two-run double gives Russellville a 3-0 lead on Faith Academy in the bottom of the fifth. Michael Morris coming in to pitch for the Rams for Reece Ewing with runners on second and third and one out.

5:07 PM: Hewitt has bases loaded and two outs in top 5 against Auburn. The Huskies take a 3-0 lead on Keegan Morrow’s triple.

5:03 PM: Russellville’s Skylar Holland rips a single to left to open the bottom of the fifth. It’s the first hit for either team.

5:00 PM: Russellville’s Austin Bohannon is through five with a no-hitter. The Golden Tigers lead 1-0. They also don’t have a hit.

4:56 PM: Dual no-hitter: After four at Riverwalk, neither team has a hit. However, Russellville leads 1-0.

4:54 PM: More of the same: Another three-up, three-down inning for Hewitt-Trussville pitcher Carson Skipper. It’s still 0-0 heading to the top of the fifth.

4:49 PM: Still scoreless: Hewitt-Trussville again strands a runner at third in the fourth, and it’s still a scoreless tie. Auburn pitcher Andrew Naismith has not allowed a hit, but has walked three and hit a better.

4:39 PM: After 3 innings at Paterson, it’s still scoreless. But Auburn’s Morgan Brown got a hit to end Hewitt-Trussville pitcher Carson Skipper’s no-hitter. Auburn pitcher Andrew Naismith still hasn’t allowed a hit through three innings. At Riverwalk, Russellville leads Faith 1-0 after three.

4:33 PM: Great diving catch by Russellville’s Bailey Thompson in right field saves a Faith run. Headed to the bottom of 3, Golden Tigers still lead 1-0.

4:26 PM: No score through 2 between Auburn and Hewitt-Trussville. Russellville leads Faith 1-0 after 2 at Riverwalk. Rams ended Russillville’s 18-game win streak last night.

4:21 PM: At Paterson, Hewitt strands a runner at third in the second, and it’s still 0-0 after 1 and a half. Neither team has a hit

2:57 PM: At Riverwalk, Faith will send sophomore LHP Reece Ewing (7-1, 1.38 ERA) to the mound against Russellville senior LHP Austin Bohannon (13-1, 1.33 ERA).

2:32 PM: Faith Academy is here getting its first look at Riverwalk. Rams up 1-0 in the 5A championship series against Russellville.

1:20 PM: Defending Class 5A champ Russellville has been milling around Riverwalk since about 12:30. I think the Golden Tigers are anxious to erase the memories of last night’s 9-1 loss to Faith Academy.

12:30 PM: Next games are scheduled for 4 p.m. The Class 5A series will resume here at Riverwalk, while 7A opens down the road at Paterson.

FINAL SCORE: UMS-Wright 4, Oneonta 1

12:17 PM: Garrett Hollinghead pitches a complete game to get the win for UMS. He allowed one run on five hits. Dawson Harvey took the loss. Tanner Allen had two hits for UMS. Brody Moore had a pair for Oneonta.

11:30 AM: UMS wins its ninth state baseball title and first since 2011, sweeping Oneonta in two games. Chauncey Callier is the MVP.

11:24 PM: 1-2-3 go the Bulldogs. Last chance for Oneonta. Headed to the seventh.

11:19 AM: Six straight retired by Garrett Hollinghead. Headed to the bottom of the sixth. It’s 4-1 UMS and Billy Ray Cyrus is playing on the speaker.

11:15 AM: Seven straight retired by Oneonta’s Dawson Harvey. UMS maintains a 4-1 lead headed to the sixth inning.

11:09 AM: Garrett Hollinghead pitches around an error. Nothing doing for Oneonta in the fifth.

11:02 AM: Nothing doing for UMS in the fourth. Bulldogs lead 4-1 headed to the fifth here at Riverwalk.

10:57 AM: Redskins on the board on Zach Dimmock’s sacrifice fly, but Garrett Hollinghead limits the damage. UMS leads 4-1.

10:52 AM: Oneonta with something working in the fourth. Runners on first and third and no out for Reece Mathews.

10:48 AM: Dawson Harvey pitches out of further trouble, but UMS-Wright now leads 4-0 after three. Bulldogs won Game 1 on Thursday night.

9:26 AM: UMS takes a 1-0 series lead into today’s opener. The Bulldogs beat Oneonta 9-3 on Thursday behind ace Conner Jednat. Garrett Hollinghead (6-4, 2.49 ERA) gets the start today for UMS against Oneonta’s Dawson Harvey (8-1, 1.39 ERA). 

9:01 AM: We are approximately an hour away from first pitch at Riverwalk Stadium and the weather is holding steady at this point. Overcast but no rain. Grounds crew has the field ready to play. Hopefully, it holds out.
