Texas A&M third baseman Boomer White was named SEC Player of the Year in baseball by league coaches on Monday.
White, a junior, is batting .411/.486/.547 with 17 doubles, four home runs and 41 RBIs for the Aggies this season. He set an SEC record with 57 hits in conference play, and led the SEC in on-base percentage and hits this season.
Florida’s Logan Shore was named SEC Pitcher of the Year. Shore, a junior right-hander, is 10-0 with a 2.33 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 85 innings this season.
Mississippi State’s John Cohen was named Coach of the Year. Cohen led the Bulldogs to a 21-9 conference record this season, clinching their first SEC title since 1989.
Mississippi State right fielder Jake Mangum was named Freshman of the Year after batting a league-best .427 with 73 hits and a .479 on-base percentage. The Bulldogs enter the SEC tournament on an 11-game winning streak.
Tennessee second baseman Derek Lance was named SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Lance sports a 3.90 GPA in kinesiology and has already been accepted to medical school at East TEnnessee State.
Mississippi State also led the way with four first-team All-SEC picks: Mangum, first baseman Nathaniel Lowe, designated hitter Jack Kruger and pitcher Dakota Hudson. The full All-SEC teams:
