The latest in David Ross’ retirement endeavors: A return to baseball – Chicago Tribune
David Ross is coming out of retirement — but he’s not returning to the Cubs.
Or even the major leagues.
Ross, one of the heroes of the Cubs’ run to the 2016 World Series championship before retiring, reportedly has signed on to play for the Kansas Stars, an independent team that is stocked with former major-leaguers and is set to play in the National Baseball Congress World Series, according to The Wichita Eagle.
On Sunday, Ross tweeted “Big News! I’m excited to be coming out of retirement. I just couldn’t stay off the field.”
Ross hasn’t exactly been idle during his retirement. He finished in second place on this season’s “Dancing With the Stars” and is also serving as a baseball TV analyst for ESPN.
