SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Missions owner David Elmore and Mayor Ivy Taylor announced at a City Council meeting today that Triple-A baseball is headed to San Antonio for the 2019 season.
Elmore said he plans to move his Triple-A team from Colorado Springs to San Antonio. The move is contingent upon a new downtown baseball stadium.
The Double-A affiliate that plays here, the Missions, will continue to play at Wolff Stadium through the 2018 season. Though Elmore did not say that he plans to move the team to Amarillo, he acknowledged that there are no other cities on his radar for a potential move.
Local voters will likely be asked to approve funding to build the stadium, which sources say would cost about $75 million.
