Adidas is preparing to put hockey equipment maker Reebok-CCM up for sale early next year as it simplifies its business, a source close to the situation said.

The German sneaker-maker recently put its TaylorMade golf club brand on the market and with the CCM sale will continue to exit the sports equipment space.

Adidas tried unsuccessfully to sell CCM in 2013 for $150 million. The division was losing money — excluding its apparel business contract with the National Hockey League that was expiring, the source said.

Reebok-CCM Hockey President Philippe Dubé has since succeeded in turning the brand around and it generates $300 million in sales.

Dubé claims CCM is the hot hockey brand in the NHL, with 40 percent growth two years in a row.

Adidas has been positioning CCM as its own brand, including landing logo-wearing prodigy Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers.

Adidas declined to comment.
