Barcelona is starting a professional women’s soccer team in North America – CBS sports.com (blog)

Barcelona is going to become the first European club to have a team in the National Women’s Soccer League. The Spanish soccer club, known for its elite men’s soccer team, received approval from its board to develop a plan for a women’s team in the United’s States, it announced. 

The plan is for the team to begin playing in 2018. Proposals for the team came from the club’s new office in New York City. It’s unclear as to where the team would play, but it’s a big step in expanding the club’s global grand and get into the ever-growing women’s game in the United States.
