A last-lap wreck in Friday night’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series opener sent Christopher Bell flipping down the track in his No. 4 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota and, eventually, to the hospital for precautionary measures.

Bell radioed that he was OK and climbed out of the truck under his own power following a wreck in which he was sent into the outside wall, got airborne and barrel-rolled down the Daytona International Speedway frontstretch.

Later, a NASCAR official announced that Bell had been transported to a local hospital for further evaluation. At 1 a.m. ET Saturday, Kyle Busch Motorsports tweeted a press release that stated Bell had been evaluated and released.

On Saturday afternoon, Bell tweeted out a statement thanking everyone for their concern and support.

The rookie was scored 16th in the race.

John Hunter Nemechek, also involved in the incident said it seemed that Bell’s truck went over his own No. 8 ride.

“It seemed that way. I don’t know how close it actually was,” Nemechek said. “I know he was pretty high up in the air. It felt like I drove underneath of him, but I couldn’t tell you. …

“I wouldn’t say it was scary. You’re just trying to make it through, hope for the best and trying to make it through. We got clipped and it ended our day.”

Johnny Sauter won the NextEra Energy Resources 250, which ended under caution.
