Brazilian soccer stars staying in Jersey City? The ‘Neymarzetes’ think so – NJ.com

JERSEY CITY — A few children are kicking a soccer ball around outside the Westin Hotel in Downtown Jersey City while a couple news cameras are set up at the main entrance.

What’s this all about?

The few young soccer fans said they are waiting to see the Brazilian National Team make their way into the hotel.

ESPN and CBS employees with the Brazilian flag on their shirts said members of the team are beginning to individually arrive in preparation to take on Costa Rica at Red Bulls Stadium on Saturday.

And the famous Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior, the Brazil and Barcelona forward – whose thousands of loyal followers are known as “Neymarzetes” – is said to be among the players who will be staying in Jersey City.

It might to be a little difficult though to catch up with the soccer stars. As this reporter was heading back to her car, a black SUV with a limo service tag zoomed by, heading for a rear entrance to the hotel.

In the meantime, two teens sat against a wall in the front of the hotel drawing pictures of their favorite players.
