Danica Patrick unveils new NASCAR sponsor Nature’s Bakery – Los Angeles Times
Danica Patrick’s already found a new sponsor to replace GoDaddy, which announced it would be dropping the NASCAR driver after this season.
Patrick announced Tuesday she and Nature’s Bakery have agreed to a 28-race deal beginning in 2016. She also announced a new deal with Stewart-Haas Racing.
“They have ambitious goals and they’re going to rely on me and everyone at Stewart-Haas Racing to deliver,” Patrick said in a release. “I have ambitious goals too. It’s why I came to NASCAR and, specifically, to Stewart-Haas Racing. There’s still a lot I want to achieve in this sport and I’m looking to continue my professional journey with a brand as determined as I am.”
Patrick, a former IndyCar driver, became a full-time NASCAR driver in 2013. That same year she became the first woman to win pole position in the sport’s highest level at the Daytona 500.
Since she arrived at NASCAR, Patrick has been sponsored by GoDaddy and been regularly featured in the Web-hosting company’s often racy commercials.
In April, GoDaddy announced plans to drop NASCAR’s only female driver.
“Danica is very marketable as we all know … and I’ve really been watching her and she’s competing more and more at a higher level, and she’s very competitive,” NASCAR Chief Executive Brian France said at the time. “She wants to really make her mark over a period of time, and it’s a tough place to do it with the kind of talent and parity that’s in NASCAR. But she’s showing progress and I think she’ll be just fine.”
Patrick has six top-10 finishes in the Sprint Cup series, the most by a female driver. She finished ninth at Bristol Motor Speedway in April.
She’s 21st in the Sprint Cup standings with three races left before the Chase for the Sprint Cup begins, which puts the top 16 drivers in an elimination-style playoff series.
